Jude TenEyck of Parishville-Hopkinton Central School District, a student in the New Visions Medical Careers program at the Seaway Career & Technical Education Center, is the October recipient of the Potsdam Rotary Club’s “Rev. William R. and Crystal E. Cuthbert Vocational Excellence Award Sponsored by Brookfield Renewable U.S.” TenEyck is the child of Naomi and James Scovil.
At a Rotary luncheon honoring TenEyck, he met with Potsdam Rotarians and was commended for his academic excellence by Seaway Tech instructor Richelle Cisco.
“Although I have only known Jude for two months, he is very dedicated to and serious about his studies,” said Cisco. “He clarifies instructions regarding homework assignments and makes sure to find out what information will be on upcoming quizzes and tests showing that the grades he earns are important to him. He is consistently polite to everyone, actively engaged and ready to assist if asked. Jude is interested in becoming a registered nurse. I believe his dedication, maturity and ability to seek out the information he needs will be a benefit to him in college. I am glad to be able to recognize him as the Rotary Student of the Month.”
New Visions Medical Careers is a one-year class for seniors who are interested in pursuing a healthcare-related degree in college. In New Visions Medical Careers, TenEyck concentrates on medical terminology, human biology, first aid/CPR, effective communication, law & ethics, HIPAA/protected health information, patient confidentiality, and more.
Jude will be certified in CPR for healthcare workers, first aid, Stop the Bleed and Mandated Reporter. His experience in New Visions Medical Careers job shadowing will help him make a more informed decision on his career path and the knowledge gained throughout this should put TenEyck on a successful path in college.
The Potsdam Rotary Club meets at noon at the Potsdam Town Hall community room every Wednesday. Guests are welcome. Find out more at potsdamrotary.org.
