SUNY Potsdam President Suzanne Smith was recently inducted as a member of the Rotary Club of Potsdam.

Smith, her husband, Brett Lloyd, and son, Sam Lloyd, moved to Potsdam in April as Smith proudly took on the role of the 18th president of SUNY Potsdam.

Prior to that, she served as the provost/vice president for academic affairs at Georgia Southwestern State University from 2018-2023.
Smith worked at Washington State University Vancouver from 1997-2018 and eventually transitioned from a faculty member in Child and Family Development to administration by serving 10 years as an academic director. She ended her time at WSUV serving as the director of academic planning and special assistant to the vice chancellor of academic affairs.

Originally from Smyrna, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta, she and her husband enjoy hiking, golf, and being outdoors, and are loving living in the North Country. They are looking forward to participating in winter sports once the snow begins to fall. They have five dogs, three of which are one year of age or younger.
