The Rotary Club of Potsdam will honor Sam and Carmela Spagnolo with the Service Above Self Award, and Shawn Seymour with the Paul Harris Award at its annual dinner on Wednesday, June 29, at the Cheel Campus Center at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y.

 

Lowell Warner will also be installed as 2011-2012 president at the event, while Neal Zirn will be honored as outgoing president.

 

The Service Above Self Award is given to non-Rotarians who have made outstanding contributions to the Potsdam Community. The club will honor the Spagnolos, owners of Sergi's Restaurant in Potsdam, with the award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the Potsdam community.

 

Seymour will be honored as a Paul Harris Fellow for his demonstrated commitment to the goals and purposes of Rotary and "in appreciation of their tangible assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world."

 

Seymour is the treasurer of the Rotary Club of Potsdam. Assistant chief accountant at Clarkson University, he joined the Potsdam Rotary Club in 2007, and has served on its board for four years. A Certified Public Accountant and native of Watertown, N.Y., Seymour received his bachelor of science degree in accounting from Clarkson. He resides in Hannawa Falls with his wife, Laura Cordts.

 

All Rotarians, and family, friends and colleagues of the honorees are invited to attend.

 

A social hour with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar gets underway at 5:30 p.m. Musical entertainment will be provided by pianist Kyle R. Tupper.

 

A buffet dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
