Shawn Seymour of Hannawa Falls was recognized on June 29 as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Potsdam.

Seymour is the assistant chief accountant at Clarkson University, and chief accountant at J.R. Weston and the Clarkson Inn.

He was honored for his demonstrated commitment to the goals and purposes of Rotary and "in appreciation of his tangible assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world."

One-thousand dollars has also been donated in his name to the Rotary Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs.

The contribution honoring the new fellow will be used for projects like saving the lives of children through immunization, bringing water to remote global villages, or the establishment of hospitals in under-developed countries.

A native of Watertown, Seymour is a Certified Public Accountant who received his bachelor of science degree in accounting from Clarkson University.

Prior to Clarkson, Seymour worked as a staff accountant at Pinto, Mucenski & Watson, P.C., and at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

He has served as the Potsdam Rotary Club's treasurer since 2007 and is married to Laura Cordts.
