Lucas Crump of Brasher Falls Central School District, a student in the Electrical Technologies program at the Seaway Career & Technical Education Center, is the January recipient of the Potsdam Rotary Club’s “Rev. William R. and Crystal E. Cuthbert Vocational Excellence Award Sponsored by Brookfield Renewable U.S.” Crump is the child of Nick Crump.
At a Rotary luncheon honoring Crump, he met with Potsdam Rotarians and was commended for his academic excellence by Seaway Tech instructor Shane Jenkinson.
“Lucas is the complete package when it comes to an example of a model student,” said Jenkinson. “He shows up every day, pays attention, and completes tasks on time and without question. He is a very polite and well-mannered young man who will do great things in life if he so chooses”.
As a student in the Electrical Technologies program, Crump is involved in the beginning principles of electricity, reading blueprints and wiring diagrams, proper use of tools and equipment, basic principles of motor controls with ladder logic, and emerging renewable energy technologies such as wind, solar and hydro power.
Upon completion of the two-year program, students will have acquired a competitive edge for jobs right out of high school with contractors and labor unions in this skilled trade area.
