The Rotary Club of Potsdam presented Dr. G. Michael Maresca and Barbara N. Maresca with the Service Above Self Award its annual dinner on June 30.

The Service Above Self Award is given to non-Rotarians who have made outstanding contributions to the Potsdam Community.

In presenting the award, Mary Sue Foster said that one need only to open a newspaper or listen to the radio to see what the Marescas have done for the community.

"They have established nursing scholarships, donated and challenged others to match funds for the animal shelter, sponsored our duck race to allow children to attend Dodge Pond Camp, supported arts in our area, and built a children's area in the hospital, just to name a few," said Foster. "Most recently they helped make possible a dream trip to Yankee Stadium for a group of handicapped children."

Foster said that the award was a small token of the Rotary Club's appreciation of all that the Marescas had done for the community. "Rotary appreciates and recognizes your unselfish acts and contributions to our community," concluded Foster.
