Maureen Farina, assistant director of development and community relations for Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, was inducted as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Potsdam at its February 25 meeting.

When she moved to Potsdam 25 years ago Farina, volunteered for Hospice shortly after it was established. Farina has also held development positions at Clarkson University, where she received her MBA, and St. Lawrence University. For several years she worked as a consultant for a software company, assisting clients with implementing new database management systems for alumni relations and development.

In 1993, Farina was sponsored by Potsdam Rotary as a Rotary Group Study Exchange member to France. It was an opportunity for Farina to renew her French language skills, having majored in French at Georgetown University, and to learn about southern France.

Farina is a board member of the St. Lawrence County Arts Council. She has also served as a member of the board of the Potsdam Public Library and the Potsdam Central School District. She's looking forward to working with Rotary on projects to help the community.
