Moschell and Griffin Recognized As Paul Harris Fellows

Debora Moschell of Potsdam and Michael P. Griffin of Colton were recognized on June 30 as Paul Harris Fellows by the Rotary Club of Potsdam.

Moschell is finance manager at Penski Inc. in Potsdam. Griffin is director of news & digital content services at Clarkson University.

 
Moschell and Griffin were honored for their demonstrated commitment to the goals and purposes of Rotary and "in appreciation of his tangible assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world."

One-thousand dollars has also been donated in each of their names to the Rotary Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs.

The contribution honoring the new fellows will be used for projects like saving the lives of children through immunization, bringing water to remote global villages, or the establishment of hospitals in under-developed countries.

A native of Star Lake, Moschell graduated from Potsdam Central School and SUNY Canton, and studied accounting at Clarkson University.

She served in the U.S. Navy from 1988-1992 and is a veteran of the first Gulf War.

Moschell owned and operated a daycare business in southern California from 1992-1996, and then returned to Potsdam in 1996 when she joined Penski Inc. as accounting manager.

She serves on the board of directors of the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce and is an alumna of the St. Lawrence Leadership Institute. She is also a member of the American Payroll Association.

Moschell resides in Potsdam with her two sons, Aaron and James.

This is the second time that the club has honored Griffin with the Paul Harris Award. He received his first in 1997.

A native of Scranton, Pa., Griffin received his bachelor of science degree in management from the University of Scranton, his master of science in communication from Clarion University, and his master of science in management systems from Clarkson University. He has served in various marketing and communication roles at Clarkson since 1986.

Griffin serves on the board of directors of Potsdam Holiday Fund, the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, and the Rotary Club. A past president of Rotary, Griffin also cochaired the Rotary District 7040 Conference in 2005.

He resides in Colton with his wife, Nancy.
