Darren Mesibov of Potsdam was inducted as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Potsdam at its December 10 meeting.

Since 2004, Mesibov has been the owner and operator of Potsdam Aviation, an aircraft maintenance and flight training business. He is also involved with the Potsdam Airport committee, as well as the Potsdam Empire Zone administrative board.

In 2003, he completed the professional pilot program at Westwind School of Aeronautics in Phoenix, Ariz. Prior to his flying career he spent his early twenties in Arizona, buying distressed real estate and renovating it into rental property.

Having spent time in Potsdam growing up, and with family and roots in the North Country, Mesibov came to Potsdam in 2003 in hopes of offering flight instruction as a mechanism to build the flight experience necessary to fly for the airlines.

"In 2005, I surpassed the minimum hiring qualifications for most airlines and determined that the benefits of living in this area outweighed those of living in a major hub and working for the airlines," says Mesibov. "I continued to build my business here in Potsdam, bought a house and began getting involved with the community."
